Terms of use and purchases

Version 2026-11-03. Theme Chess is a chess game with optional cosmetic collections. Purchases never change the rules, legal moves or computer difficulty.

Our company registration and representative are in the imprint. These terms cover the game service and direct purchases from FiddlerCrab. A merchant-of-record or Apple purchase also has the seller's applicable purchase terms, identified before payment.

Included play and optional collections

Classic, Cats and Retrievers are included. You can play locally as a guest. An optional FiddlerCrab account enables account-based online games, cloud saves and appearance sync.

Each additional collection includes all six chess roles, both sides and the available finishes. Each is a separate one-time purchase, not a subscription:

• Wooden Cut-outs — €2.99, one time on our website.
• Wooden Toys — €2.99, one time on our website.
• Dragon Court — €2.99, one time on our website.
• Faceted Classic — €2.99, one time on our website.

The amount, currency, seller and applicable tax treatment are shown before you confirm payment. Apple purchases use the price and currency shown by Apple for your storefront. We do not promise a particular app's availability in a country or on a device merely because these terms describe native purchases.

Website checkout and taxes

Germany: for a German billing address, FiddlerCrab UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is the direct seller and Stripe processes the payment. Our direct German sales use the small-business exemption under §19 UStG; no German VAT is charged. The German invoice states this exemption.

Other available billing countries: website checkout uses Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe through Link as merchant of record. The exact selling entity and its terms are shown in checkout and on the receipt. That seller handles the covered transaction taxes. The German §19 statement does not apply to those foreign merchant-of-record sales. Only the billing countries offered by checkout are available; select your actual billing country.

Ordering and digital delivery

Select a collection, sign in and review the total. Website checkout requires confirmation of these terms, the billing country and seller route, and a separate request for immediate digital access with acknowledgement of its effect on withdrawal rights. You can leave checkout before confirming payment.

Payment authorisation and the seller's order confirmation establish the purchase under the applicable checkout terms. Keep that confirmation. We unlock the collection for the original FiddlerCrab account after server verification of the payment. Verification may require a connection and may be delayed by the payment provider. A success-page visit or client-side message alone does not create an entitlement.

Your collection and account

A collection is a personal, non-exclusive licence to use those figures in Theme Chess with the purchasing FiddlerCrab account. It does not transfer ownership of the game's code or model files, or permit redistribution of those assets except where mandatory law allows it. Collections do not expire through a recurring subscription fee.

Sign in to the same FiddlerCrab account on another supported device to load verified entitlements. Use Check my purchases or Restore purchases if necessary. An Apple transaction remains bound to the original FiddlerCrab account; signing in to a different game account does not transfer it. No Family Sharing or account-transfer entitlement is promised.

Account deletion removes the account used to access the collection. Contact support before deletion if you need help with purchase access. Deletion is not a refund request and does not automatically reverse a payment. Statutory rights remain unaffected.

Apple-billed purchases

When a native iPhone/iPad version offers purchases, it uses Apple In-App Purchase. Apple's purchase and payment terms apply to that transaction. Use the original Apple Account and FiddlerCrab account to restore it. Refund requests for Apple-billed transactions can be submitted through Apple's purchase support. FiddlerCrab provides the game and collection-access support.

Refunds, withdrawal and defects

Read the withdrawal information before ordering. For paid digital content, a withdrawal right ends early only when the applicable legal requirements are met, including express consent, acknowledgement, beginning delivery and the required contract confirmation. A checkbox alone does not remove statutory rights.

After a verified refund, revocation or unresolved payment dispute, access linked to that payment may be withdrawn. A separate active purchase of the same collection remains valid. Contact us if paid content is missing, defective or not as described. Mandatory consumer rights, including applicable digital-content conformity, necessary updates and remedies, are not limited by these terms.

Playing together

Keep access credentials private. Use online play fairly and do not interfere with the service or another player's game. Timed online clocks run on the server, including during a disconnection. Network interruptions and maintenance can affect online availability; report problems through support.

If you are not able to enter a purchase contract yourself, involve a parent or guardian. Local play does not require a child's registration. We do not represent that an age-verification or parental-consent service is implemented.

Privacy and changes

The privacy notice explains account, purchase and appearance processing. The version accepted for a purchase is recorded with the order. Later changes to these pages do not by themselves remove an existing paid licence or statutory rights. Contact support for a question or complaint. We do not participate in consumer arbitration proceedings; mandatory access to courts and consumer remedies remains unaffected.
